These are slightly modified images of the maps contained in the Rhea Family Papers housed at the Tennessee State Library and Archives.
They are of counties in northern Alabama (Lauderdale, Franklin, Limestone, Lawrence, Morgan, and Jackson), and Tennessee (Anderson, Blount, Sevier, Campbell, Carter, Claiborne, Grainger, Greene, Hawkins, Jefferson, Cocke, Knox, Lincoln, Perry, and Shelby). It is believed they were used in preparation of a large detailed map of Tennessee published by Matthew Rhea in 1832, the earliest known detailed map of the state (CAR-MAP-487).

As outlined below, these maps are available in two versions:

1 - A 48-page book containing images of all maps (many are full size, but some are reduced and/or sectioned across two or more pages), and

2 - Individual maps printed at their original size, or enlarged, as noted.
