NOTES

Note: In addition to the posters listed below, I also have some created from antique postcards.

Civil War Poster Reproductions

I currently have the following pages that make beautiful b/w posters. They are from Harper's Weekly - A Journal of Civilization.

  • CAR-POS-001 - February 14, 1863, a drawing, "The Battle of Murfreesboro, Tennessee&emdash;Centre of the Army On 26 January 1863."
  • CAR-POS-002 - September 12, 1863, a drawing, "View of Chattanooga, Tennessee, from the North Side of the Tennessee River."
  • CAR-POS-003 - October 24, 1863, front cover showing "The War In East Tennessee&emdash;Reception of General Burnside By the Unionists of Knoxville."
  • CAR-POS-004 - November 7, 1863, front cover showing "The Army of the Cumberland--A Troop Train Passing Through the Big Cut of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad."
  • CAR-POS-005 - November 1863, from Harper's Pictorial History of the Civil War, "Official Map Illustrating the Siege of Knoxville."
  • CAR-POS-032 - A very interesting article about Admiral David G. Farragut from the front and second pages of the August 29, 1863 issue, with large drawing of Admiral Farragut. Copies of this poster are also available at the Farragut Folklife Museum in the Town Hall in Farragut, TN.
  • CAR-POS-033 - The drawing of Admiral Farragut from the article above, w/o the article, and with the logo of The Town of Farragut, TN, done in a antique-looking brown tone.Copies of this poster are also available at the Farragut Folklife Museum in the Town Hall in Farragut, TN.

I also have a copy of a reprint of the ATLAS--To Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies, originally published in 1891; contains maps of all the battles of the war and other drawings. I can reproduce any page in this huge volume.

Knoxville, Tennessee

CAR-POS-034 - Busy Spots in Knoxville, a reproduction of a poster originally printed in 1921 showing businesses in downtown Knoxville--An aerial view looking North down Gay and Market streets; 17" x 22"; $15.

Titanic
  • CAR-POS-022 - Titanic, a replica of a 1912 poster targeting third-class passengers
  • CAR-POS-024 - "The Last Sunset," a replica of a painting of the Titanic by Simon Fisher (also looks good on canvas)
  • CAR-POS-025 - Titanic at Berth 44 at Southampton, a copy of a B/W photo made on sailing day, April 10, 1912
  • CAR-POS-026 - "Titanic the Exhibition," a replica of poster that was available at the St. Petersburg, FL exhibit (based on "The Last Sunset" painting)

Miscellaneous

  • CAR-POS-027 - School Days, a poster of school photos, grades 1-12 (obviously, the customer must supply copies of the photos used--the photos shown are of my son Chip). The cost for this poster depends on how much work is required to restore the photos (if any).
  • CAR-POS-028 - The Space Shuttle, a photo of takeoff, courtesy of NASA
  • CAR-POS-029 - Lambert Acres Golf Course, Maryville, TN course layout poster, created for The University of Tennessee
  • CAR-POS-030 - "Rules of the Inn" poster; a replica of a sign from 1786
  • CAR-POS-031 - A version of the above modified for a barber shop. Both of these posters are normally printed on a beige background.
